CODEX ALIMENTARUS (CA) is a draconian set of regulations and laws which will change your life forever if you use vitamins, minerals, herbs or other natural healing for your health care and you live in the United States. And, make no mistake, CA is coming to you in the United States. Once it gets here, it will be ILLEGAL to buy, sell, recommend or use any but 18 ultra-low dose nutrients, natural supplements, herbs, enzymes or other natural treatments whether you are a licensed health professional or not. The only legal health option left will be the pharmaceutical one. I believe that if we allow this to happen the people of the United States will, after a period of dazed disbelief, gradually begin to re-assert their lost health freedoms. Since doing so will mean flouting the law of the land, the result will either be a brief storm followed by collapse of all health freedoms in the United States or a full-scale and wide-spread time of dissent, civil unrest and resultant repression as the authorities seek to re-establish their control over a resistant population. After all, if you are watching your loved one suffering or dying from a degenerative disease which research has shown to respond to a simple nutrient regimen, would you sit idly by and allow him/her to continue to decline rather than try to obtain the vitamins or minerals which will restore the person you care about? But these nutreints, so easily purchased today, will be illegal substances under the coming CA regulations. This scenario seems unlikely in the context of our current health climate here in the US. But CA will destroy this climate of choice swiftly and virtually completely if we do not act now.

CA has become the law in the EU, Canada and Australia. The US is next unless we act decisively. It was passed quietly and without public notice but it has grave and devastating impact on health freedom. Here in the United States, CA has been defeated by Congress several times, each time by a smaller margin. Given the political composition of the Congress, it is virtually certain that CA will be passed unless we make sure that does not happen.

NUTRIENTS AND SUPPLEMENTS: CA specifies which supplements are allowed and at what doses. ALL OTHER NUTRITIONAL MATERIALS WILL BECOME ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES (LIKE HEROIN OR MARIJUANA). A total of 18 nutrients will be allowed, but only at dosages so low that they have little or no clinical impact. Vitamin C, for example, at any dosage higher than 200 mg per day will be illegal, with or without a prescription. A gram of Vitamin C or 1000 mg of Niacin (Vit B3) will be as illegal as a gram of crack cocaine.

HERBS: CA stipulates which conditions may be treated using herbs. Only minor, self-limited conditions may be treated by these natural compounds. Treating any other conditions with herbal remedies will constitute a federal crime.

TOXINS: CA sets permissible upper limits for pesticide residues, toxic chemicals in the environment, hormones in food and other environmental contaminants which are many times higher than levels advocated by chemical and pesticide industry lobbying groups.

IRRADIATION OF FOOD: CA makes irradiation of food legal under circumstances now hotly contested by food safety advocates.

GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISMS: CA makes the un-labeled use of GMOs legal in all foods under all circumstances although there is significant opposition to the widespread use of GMOs at this time. Many GMOs have been genetically engineered so that seeds WILL NOT GERMINATE without the use of specific pesticides.

NO HEALTH REPRESENTATION: CA has been formulated (and is being expanded) by the CODEX ALLIMENTARIUS COMMISSION which meets without the presence or participation of consumer or health advocates, supplement manufactures, natural health professionals or any other non-pharmaceutically oriented group.

HOW TO DO PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR CIRCLE OF INFLUENCE FROM CA:
1. Become informed. Go to http://www.alliance-natural-health.org/index.cfm?action=home or do a web search on CODEX ALIMENTARIUS. Remember that much of what you read is designed to put a very pretty face on a very ugly reality and lull the public into feeling comfortable with CA.
2. Contact your Senators and Representatives: Write a strongly worded letter telling your Congress Person that you want them to defend your health rights and preserve your access to natural treatments and supplements. In the algebra of politics, one fax or posted letter is counted as equal to 13,000 votes! See the sample letter at the end of this post.

3. Inform everyone you know: Tell your clients, friends, relatives, neighbors, health food store owners, health practitioners and everyone else you can think of about CA and what they can do to protect themselves. Reproduce this blog and share it with them.
4. Give printed copies of a letter like the one below to people so they can fill in the name of their Congress People, sign and mail it. Emails do not have the impact of actual faxes or letters. A woman who succeeded in getting a federal law changed by herself was told that, in the peculiar algebra of politics, a single letter is assumed to represent the voices of 13,000 voters. So get everyone you know to actually write or fax letters to their members of Congress.
5. Support the cause generously:
a. PROTECT YOUR HEALTH FREEDOM!

Dear (your Congress Person),

As your constituent I wanted to make you aware of my very strong oppositionto any version of CODEX ALIMENTARUS (or any other legislation which restricts my health choices and freedoms) becoming law or governing regulation inthe United States. The draconian regulations of CODEX will do irreparableharm to the health and well being of the entire population of this countrysince it will make it illegal for anyone, including licensed physicians, tooffer, choose, dispense or use natural health promotion and treatment agentslike Vitamin C, Co Q 10, zinc and calcium at clinically effective dosages.It will also make the use of ANY nutrient (other than 18 permitted low dosenatural substances) illegal at clinically meaningful doses. This set of regulations has already become law in Australia, Canada and the EU.
